What are we?

A charity set up to promote, encourage and enable more cycling in Highland Perthshire for both locals and visitors with a view to becoming a Cycle Friendly Community. We achieve this through a range of activities such as events, workshops, school cycle activities, working with businesses and more. In November 2011 we were awarded Cycle Friendly Community of the year by Cycling Scotland.  In 2013 we were award Charity status.

The Festival

Every year we run a cycling festival with a variety of different events for all.

Who are we?

HPC are a charity with a management committee, 1 full time and 2 part time paid co-ordinators. We mainly focus on Active Travel, education, information, events and activities.

We work closely with a local business who produce a brochure for cycling in the area and their website focusses on accommodation, facilities and infrastructure for cyclists in the area www.cyclehighlandperthshire.co.uk

 
 
We also work closely with local cycle businesses.

Escape Route, Pitlochry www.escape-route.co.uk Bike and equipment shop, repairs.

Highland Safaris, Dull www.highlandsafaris.net. Bike hire, Drop at the Top Safaris, tools and cleaning, café.

Progression Bikes, Dunkeld www.progressionbikesscotland.com Bike hire, sales, uplift for the downhill tracks and coaching.

Blair Atholl Bike Hire, Blair Atholl www.blairathollbikehire.co.uk Bike hire and food.

 

Cycle Friendly Community

Cycle Friendly Community AwardCycling Scotland are the national cycle promotion organisation for Scotland.  They are working to establish cycling as an acceptable, attractive and practical lifestyle option.

They run Cycle Friendly Schools and Cycle Friendly Employer schemes and promote the concept of Cycle Friendly Communities. Highland Perthshire Cycling won Cycle Friendly Community of the year in November 2011. We are working with them to develop the Cycle Friendly Community concept in Highland Perthshire and to establish criteria for measuring our success. We hope to put in Cycle Friendly Community signage in the area.

 

So how are we funded?

We have been successful in securing public funding to enable the activities and support we offer to locals and visitors alike. We are very grateful to all the organisations who have and continue to support us both through funding and support.
